Cedar Valley RNG Facility
The Cedar Valley RNG Facility represents one of the largest landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas projects in the Southwest. Our team provided comprehensive EPC services including feasibility studies, detailed engineering design, equipment procurement, construction management, and commissioning. The project features advanced membrane separation technology combined with amine scrubbing to achieve pipeline-quality gas specifications. Key achievements include 98% methane recovery efficiency, zero flaring during normal operations, and integration with the local utility's gas distribution network. The facility processes over 15,000 cubic feet per minute of raw landfill gas, converting it to pipeline-quality RNG that displaces approximately 2.5 million gallons of diesel equivalent annually. Environmental benefits include the prevention of 125,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year.

Prairie Farms Biogas
Prairie Farms Biogas showcases the potential of agricultural waste-to-energy conversion in the dairy industry. Janiro Energy delivered a complete anaerobic digestion system that processes manure from over 5,000 dairy cattle, along with food processing residuals from regional facilities. The project includes covered lagoon digesters, biogas conditioning systems, a 2 MW combined heat and power generation unit, and a nutrient recovery system producing certified organic fertilizer. Our team managed all aspects from initial site assessment through final commissioning, including coordination with utility interconnection requirements and environmental compliance. The facility operates 24/7 with remote monitoring capabilities and has achieved over 95% uptime since commissioning. The recovered nutrients are processed into premium organic fertilizer sold to regional agricultural operations, creating an additional revenue stream for the farm.

Metro Water Recovery
The Metro Water Recovery project transformed an existing wastewater treatment facility into a renewable fuel production center. Janiro Energy designed and constructed a biogas upgrading system that processes digester gas from primary and secondary treatment operations serving a population of 1.5 million. The upgraded RNG meets California's stringent Low Carbon Fuel Standard requirements and is compressed on-site for direct fueling of the municipal transit authority's bus fleet. Our scope included biogas conditioning, siloxane removal, CO2 separation using pressure swing adsorption technology, compression and dispensing infrastructure, and integration with existing plant SCADA systems. The project achieved LCFS pathway certification and generates significant carbon credit revenue. Additionally, waste heat from the compression systems is recovered and used for digester heating, improving overall plant energy efficiency by 15%.
Scope of Work
- Biogas Upgrading Design
- Siloxane Removal Systems
- PSA Technology Implementation
- CNG Fueling Station
- SCADA Integration

Heartland Organics
Heartland Organics is a centralized food waste anaerobic digestion facility that diverts organic waste from landfills while producing renewable energy and soil amendments. The facility accepts pre-consumer and post-consumer food waste from commercial generators within a 100-mile radius. Janiro Energy provided complete design-build services including receiving and pre-processing systems, high-solids anaerobic digesters, biogas utilization equipment, and digestate processing. The project required careful feedstock management protocols and odor control systems to ensure community acceptance. Our team also developed waste acceptance specifications and pricing models to optimize facility economics.
Scope
Results
- 50,000 tons food waste diverted annually
- 100-mile collection radius established
- 1.5 MW renewable power generated

Coastal Energy Recovery
The Coastal Energy Recovery project presented unique engineering challenges due to the coastal Florida environment, including high humidity, salt air corrosion concerns, and hurricane resilience requirements. Janiro Energy developed a robust landfill gas collection and RNG production system featuring marine-grade materials, redundant control systems, and quick-disconnect provisions for emergency equipment protection. The gas collection system includes over 200 vertical extraction wells and 15 miles of collection piping, all designed to maximize methane capture while managing high groundwater conditions typical of coastal landfills. The RNG processing facility incorporates multiple treatment stages to handle the variable gas quality inherent in coastal landfill operations.
Scope
Results
- 200+ extraction wells installed
- 8,000 scfm processing capacity
- Hurricane-rated facility design

Valley Water District
Valley Water District's combined heat and power facility demonstrates the potential for wastewater treatment plants to achieve energy self-sufficiency. Janiro Energy designed and constructed a biogas-fueled CHP system that provides over 80% of the treatment plant's electricity needs while supplying thermal energy for digester heating and building HVAC. The project included biogas cleaning systems to protect the CHP engines, heat recovery equipment, and sophisticated controls to optimize energy production based on plant demand patterns. In the hot Arizona climate, an absorption chiller was integrated to convert excess heat into cooling capacity during summer months, further improving overall system efficiency.
Scope
Results
- 80%+ plant electricity self-generated
- 3 MW power capacity installed
- Thermal energy for heating & cooling
